Jolene's Artist Bio IMAG0296.jpg

Jolene H. Bosworth

Jolene is a sculptor and mixed media artist that is embarking on a new adventure creating spaces outside as a garden designer in Anacortes, Washington. She has a rich career history as an Artist, School Counselor and Art Educator in New York City, Seattle, and Olympia.

Recent Work:

Jolene works in printmaking and sculpture.  This artwork is reflective of a span of over 20 years of embracing a sense of place on the edge of the intertidal zone near the Salish Sea.  Her efforts in conveying a personal understanding of the seascape and her reflections on the formative qualities of living in such a lush environment are explored through her aesthetic development of her work.  Prints are altered linoleum block prints that are juxtaposed on paper with illustrations and watercolors that breathe life into the work. Her sculptures include wood carvings, brass and bronze cast pieces, found objects, formed paper pulp with print embellishments, paper mache, and plaster casts that lean toward an environmental query on the state of our oceans and the priorities of our humanity.

Works in Progress:

Jolene is currently working on designs for garden spaces with a passion to create outdoor cwtches in her environments (cwtch: a welsh term for a safe embrace). This garden design work will occur in tandem with future outdoor sculpture pieces moving forward.
